No Deal

February 1, 2005 9:36 AM

Graham Oakes has welcomed the 'no deal' pledge by Charles Kennedy.

The Liberal Democrat Leader has ruled out working with the Tories after the next General Election, should there be a hung parliament, because of the difference on key issues between the parties. Whilst many Conservative supporters back the Lib Dems pro-European approach, the present Tory Leader is a Euro sceptic.

Mr Kennedy also ruled out a deal with Labour. Should the people reject Labour, massively reducing their majority, the Lib Dems could not lightly ignore the will of the people.

In South Dorset, a highly marginal seat, where all three parties have reasons to be optimistic, this 'no deal' pledge is a big boost for local Lib Dem PPC Graham Oakes.

"We cannot ask people to vote Lib Dem in the General Election if they know the consequence will be a Labour or Tory government. If that was the case why bother voting Lib Dem? The party is growing in popularity, both locally & nationally. We are set for our best result yet" said South Dorset Lib Dems Parliamentary Spokesperson Graham Oakes.

"People can vote Lib Dem in South Dorset and know that we can win."

The local Lib Dems also expect to make gains in the County Council elections on May 5th.
